Wedding Belles

13 Jul

Weddings are one of my favorite things in the whole world. There is nothing better than a happy couple in love sharing their love with everyone they love in their lives. I guess you can say that I love love.

I’ve only been a guest at one wedding (I know, crazy but I’m young and the weddings of friends haven’t started yet) but I have worked and helped plan weddings for years.

While my favorite theme/wedding trend often changes, right now I am craving all things rustic

If I were to attend my ideal wedding (rustic and southern) I would wear something romantic, girlie with something rugged mixed in, making me the perfect wedding belle. Linking up with {av} today to share my outfit.

Two Penny Blue

2 Jul

I have no days off this week except the 4th of July. Boo. I already knew this week was going to be sucky since I am one of the few people who I know that is actually working all week.

Lucky for me, the July issue of Matchbook Magazine came out and my day was instantly brighter. Yes,  I took an hour of my work day to read the magazine but no one is at work this week so I deemed it okay.

While reading the new issue I came across my new favorite lust worthy company, Two Penny Blue. Partners Marie Whitney and Erin Gates have spent over two years to bring us an awesome new company.

“Two Penny Blue is a collection of luxury jackets and blazers that combines thoughtful classic design with fine fabrics, bespoke detailing and an impeccably tailored fit. Known for its signature silhouettes and effortless sophistication, the Two Penny Blue collection presents a modern twist on classic tailored pieces.

For every jacket purchased, a school uniform is donated to a girl in need in Africa – opening the door to her education, increasing her self-esteem and providing the opportunity for a brighter future. Two Penny Blue was founded in 2010 by designer, Marie Whitney. She created the collection with the dream of using fashion as a way to educate, empower and inspire young women and children around the world.

The Two Penny Blue line is proudly made in the United States with extraordinary quality and care. The collection is produced in small quantities and every jacket is released and as a one-of-a-kind, Limited Edition piece. Trends may come and go- but quality, classic lines and attention to detail always endure.” (via)

21 Jun

Yesterday during my lunch break I had the super fun task of going to home depot to buy some mouse traps for my apartment. Gross. In order to reward myself for being productive I scooted next door to Old Navy to browse around where I found this dress.

I knew right away I was obsessed and toyed with the idea of buying the other two colors but refrained. Well today I was wearing the black dress and I know exactly what I am doing during my lunch break…Old Navy here I come. The dress is light weight and sleeveless which makes it perfect for this extreme 100 degree heat wave we are having in Boston.

It’s rare I love an article of clothing this much so in my mind it’s a necessity that I purchase the other two colors. Don’t you agree?

Chambray Season

18 May

It’s no secret that one of this season’s hottest trends is chambray. I have to admit, a year ago one of my roomies bought a chambray a shirt and I was not a fan. So call me a hypocrite but now I am a huge fan. I only have one piece, a shirt from Madewell, but  I have found endless ways to style it.

This outfit is very typical for what I wear to work each day. I have this J. Crew skirt in a multitude of different colors and absolute love it. Throw in a little leopard print for some unexpected whimsy and you are good to go.

LBD

10 May

A little black dress is a timeless classic. They always make the list for “ten pieces you must own” and it’s no secret they should be a staple in every girl’s closet.

Black is my favorite color to wear so personally I can not get enough of the LBD.

This mini dress from Candela is fun, flirty the layered texture makes my heart flutter.

Shell Ya

8 May

You know that giddy feeling you get when you see something and think to yourself “That was made. for. me.”

Well that happened to me yesterday and it should come as no surprise it was created by my good friend, Lilly Pulitzer.

I rarely change my jewelry and if I’m going to it’s normally my necklace or earrings and 90% of the time it’s the necklace. My favorite are long simple gold chains with a large charm on them. I saw this “Shell Ya” (love. the. name.) necklace and immediately fell in love. Being a seashell it’s perfect for summer and I can picture it matching just about every outfit.

But, my friends, it gets better.

Better than you could ever imagine.

This necklace doubles as a bottle opener. Say what? Did you read that right? Yes, a bottle opener. Be prepared to become the most popular person at every party you attend.

Well done, Lilly, well done.

Kentucky Derby Fashion

4 May

One event that has and will always be on my bucket list is the Kentucky Derby. It involves all of my favorite things:

1. Prepped out attire is required

2. Day drinking

3. Sun (hopefully)

I hope to make it there one day and hopefully it is sooner rather than later.

How could you look at this picture and not have the urge to run (not walk) to Kentucky?

I have that Vineyard Vines dress (last year’s). One of my favorite summer dresses.

If I were to attend the Kentucky Derby this year I would probably be wearing something like you see below. Wedges are a must as you don’t want to be sinking into the grass and after a few bevy’s the extra support is necessary. A monogrammed hat is a no-brainer and needs no explanation. I love this dress for its color and cut. The pastel, light colors are perfect for the Kentucky Derby and the cut will keep you cool in the hot southern sun. I can rarely be found without my pearl earrings on but I don’t wear pearl necklaces nearly enough. This would be the perfect excuse to bust out my pearl layers.

Have you been to the Kentucky Derby? What would you wear?
