Get me through the day

31 Aug

I’ve been a busy, busy bee this week. Getting to work early, barely sneaking out at 5 PM, not taking lunch, sometimes forgetting to breath and trying to remain calm. The biannual style magazine I work for is deadlining and things are very crazy around here. On top of all of that I am moving into my new room and have been packing, rearranging and cleaning every night. I can’t wait until 5 PM on Thursday so I can finally relax and enjoy the 4 day weekend coming up. Fingers crossed the book has been put to bed and my new room is fully arranged and ready to be lived in. Until then here are some pictures that are getting me through this hectic week.

Jokes over. Need to get back to the gym. Motivation

Lateran festival in China. Add that to the bucket list. Did anyone see this on Ashley’s season of the bachelorette? So romantic.

And well, why not? Who can argue this picture doesn’t brighten your day.

Cover me

30 Aug

This week I am going to be very busy. Irene came and took one day of my week away and moving this week is going to take up the rest of my time. It is a very bittersweet time right now. Two besties are moving out and two are moving in. I have a feeling it is going to be strange living in the same apartment but with different furniture, people, and feelings. I am switching my room to a bigger one and hoping the change makes the apartment feel less like my old home and more like a different place all together. On top of all that, work is super hectic right now. Days fly by (which isn’t a bad thing) and I leave every day feeling stressed and in the mood for some BLL’s. Thank god Labor Day Weekend is approaching and is the light at the end of tunnel. Four day weekend and many, many besties coming to visit. While I hate to wish time away, I can’t wait until it’s Friday night and all the hectic-ness is ovaaaa.

Sometimes when I am super stressed I like to browse online and make a list of future purchases. Right now I have been scouring the internet for the perfect Iphone 4 case and am having trouble finding one to purchase. I have a big, purple bulky one I bought from the Verizon store when I first got the phone. It is ugly, boring and so not me. I love pink, green, and monograms and am in search of the perfect accessory to my favorite new device. Any suggestions are entirely welcome!

Jonathan Adler Iphone 4 Cover $24.95.

Need it. Want it. Have to have it. Too bad it is out of stock…

Marley Lilly Monogrammed Case – $49.99

This is a front runner for sure. Pink? Check. Green? Check. Monogram? Check. What more could I ask for? However, I am a little concerned with the feel and quality of the actual case. I tend to be very a little clumsy and need a case that can withstand falls.

Lilly Pulitzer iPhone 4 Case – $24.95

One of my favorite Lilly patterns of all time. It’s perfect but again..concerned about what will happen when if I drop it.

Amazon Pink iPhone 4 Case – $1.27

For one dollar and twenty seven cents, seems a bit too good to be true.

After writing this post I did a little more research and realized that Lifeguard Press (one of my most lust worthy websites) has all the covers I could ever want in stock. Oh geez. Bye, bye money. I think I may order both this and this.

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas? I would love your input!

Weddings on my mind

26 Aug

Today I am linking up with {av} from Long Distance Loving for Friday’s Fancies. This week’s theme is “wedding attire” which seemed super appropriate since wedding’s are the only thing on my mind as of late. I dream of having my wedding in early fall, think first week in October, and while I could day-dream ALL day about what I would wear as a bride, I decided to create a look for a guest at my beautiful wedding.

I do not want the wedding to be too casual or too formal, a perfect mix would be ideal. Think blazers and khakis, cocktail dresses and fun shoes. My main focus would just be for everyone to have fun, however, if given the chance, I would dress every single one of my guests. Crazy? Maybe a little.

Weddings on the mind

1. Yves Saint Laurent Chyc leather clutch

2. Lanvin leather lattice wedge

3. Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Long-Sleeve Pleated Dress in Cobalt

4. Kate Spade New York Shimmer Triple Chain Necklace

5. Kenneth Jay Lane Aqua stone cocktail ring

6. Kenneth Jay Lane Earrings, Weave

Romeo Take Me Somewhere We Can Be Alone

25 Aug

In college I interned for an a m a z i n g woman. She ran a über successful wedding planning business and was transforming her knowledge into an awesome online resource for brides. Staring at pictures of weddings, engagement shoots, flowers, cakes, dresses etc. everyday was not a bad life. I learned a lot about what I liked and what I didn’t and was able to day dream all day about what I wanted for my future wedding.

Until recently I thought I knew. I wanted a beachy themed wedding with a palate of navy, hot pink and ivory. My groomsmen would wear white pants, pink Oxford’s, blue blazers and vineyard vines ties. The bridemaids would wear blue dresses from J. Crew and carry pink flowers. However, lately I have found myself being attracted to the total oppostite..rustic weddings with a color palate of greys, browns and cornflower yellow.

I’m far away from planning my wedding..heck I’m far away from even being engaged (#boyfriendless) but it doesn’t hinder my vision. These are the pictures that are inspiring me today:

I Know It’s Crazy But..

24 Aug

I spent $29 dollars plus tax on a chapstick..and I think it was totally worth it. Call me crazy but I am obsessed with lipgloss and chapstick. At any point in time I could easily grab you at one if not two tubes within arms reach. I have them in my nightstand, multiples in every purse, my car, my desk, random coat pockets and everywhere else you could imagine. Usually my stick of choice is Lypsyl and it still is one of my favorites however I have had a terrible time finding it stores over the past few months which left me at a loss of what to do. The other day I was browsing around Sephora (never a good idea) and stumbled across this “lip glow” by Dior. Being a fan of Dior makeup and feeling like I needed to buy myself a dumb special purchase, I bought it. W-O-W. It makes my lips feel amazing, juicy, smooth, soft, shiny and pretty all in one. It’s definitely more of a chapstick than a gloss but I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The tube itself is beautiful, pink, shiny, and bright and every time I use it, it makes me happy. I haven’t decided if this is a bad discovery or good..I mean with the amount of chapstick I use a day, I can’t really afford to always be grabbing for this tube. I do suggest that everyone run out and grab this product though, even if it’s just to use for special occasions. Like meeting the can’t pull out a tube of regular chapstick, you need a pretty one and this is just the ticket!

Have you ever spent a ridiculous amount of money on something that you know isn’t worth it? I would love to hear so I don’t feel so silly!

Things that make me happy today:

2. Surviving an earthquake yesterday, haha

{side note} This post is 100% my thoughts. This is not a product review, it is a true story, experience and feeling I had when I discovered this product on my own.

Spend or Save – Rediculous Things I Want

23 Aug

Since the first Spend or Save post had such positive reactions, I decided to make it a regular series, so bloggie friends, spend or save is back. This time I decided to focus on two items, a pair of Miu Miu shoes I can’t stop daydreaming about and a classic nautical style Burberry shirt, both far away from anything I can afford. While I still love the more expensive options the ‘save’ are pretty lust-worthy.

Miu Miu Two-tone Suede Sandals

Burberry Striped Wool Sweater

KensieGirl Sandal

Saint James Top

Do you have a Spend or Save item/topic you would like me to focus on for next week? Leave a comment or send and email with your suggestions!

To Do: DIY

22 Aug

As most people out there..I myself am a Pinterest addict. I can find inspiration for anything and my mind is constantly spinning as I browse around. Recently, I have found myself pinning multiple DIY projects. Some can’t be accomplished until I am one day a home-owner while others are perfectly suitable for my apartment lifestyle. Now all I need to do is find the time on the weekends to create these wonderful projects..

Simple white canvas painted in a trendy chevron pattern. All supplies needed can easily be found at your local craft store. Simple, easy, cheap..perfect

You can all quote (no pun intended) me on this..those letters will be hanging on the wall in my guest room one day. I’m not sure where these letters came from but I do know that many local craft stores sell large letters so this can easily be accomplished in a little different look.

Have an old dresser? Remove the drawers, paint all one color and insert canvas bins. Now we just have to figure out what to do with the discarded drawers…

Painted clay pots with the house number. Perfect for people like me who get bored easily. The colors of the pot and the flowers inside can be switched out each season and easily coordinated for holidays.

Those are all that are spiking my fancy today..what DIY projects have caught your eye lately?

Hanging with ma girls

19 Aug

This weekend I am going up to my family’s lake house with some of my best friends. My brother recently told me he will also be joining us with all of his friends..this should interesting. I can’t wait to laugh, share stories and forget about the real world for a while. Even if it rains I know I will have a blast because in my eyes, it’s who your with that matters. We are trying to make it tradition to go to my lake house every summer and to another friends ski house every winter. We hope in 50 years we will still be making the top biannual trips. Two summer’s ago we took this picture (it’s one of my most favorite’s ever) and it was used for our recruitment video in our sorority:

We spent about 2 hours trying to take this picture and out of the 100’s we took..this one was the best!

It was the first year we did either of the two trips and I can’t wait for the years to come, recreating this picture each and every time.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

My Weekend Instanly

18 Aug

Here is a mini recap of my weekend using new favorite thing in the whole wide world! It was the first time in almost two weeks that I stayed in the city and it was awesome. I was never rushing anywhere and felt calm and relaxed the whole time. I went shopping (which I haven’t done all summer..I know..crazy) saw Glee3D, went to the beach, and went out with some awesome friends. Oh and if you haven’t heard it enough, became smitten 🙂

Things that make me happy today:

1. Candy store runs with the roomie

2. Unexpected presents from a bestie

3. My new Sperry’s came in the mail!

17 Aug

For some reason I have been extra busy this week. I have dinner meetings after work and have not had a second to breath. Needless to say that is the reason that I didn’t have a blog ready for yesterday. I enjoy being busy because it makes the week go by fast and gets me to the weekend even faster, my favorite time of the week! This past weekend I made sure to capture my weekend in Instagram photos but couldn’t find the time to upload them to my computer..hopefully that will be accomplished tonight!

I actually stayed in the city for the first time in 2 months! I have been busy all summer visiting friends, going on vacation and soaking up the sun. I will tell you more about the weekend tomorrow but can’t wait to share one tid bit..this weekend I became smitten. Yes, smitten. A friend of mine didn’t know the word when I used it so incase you are in the same boat, here is the definition:

Verb: Be strongly attracted to someone or something

I haven’t felt this way in a while and it’s a really fun, exciting and nerve-racking feeling. I can’t stop thinking about the movie It Takes Two when Kirstie Alley describes love as “can’t-eat, can’t-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over- the-fence, world-series kind of stuff”, that’s how I feel. Now, I’m not saying I’m in love but I wouldn’t mind hanging out with new boy in some of these scenarios..
