Just a little smile

15 Sep

The past few days have been very busy for me. I had to unexpectedly go home this past weekend which threw off all of my plans. I had to miss out on Rendez-Vous New England which I had been looking forward to since I first heard about it. Needless to say, I was disappointed.

Remember in elementary school when the BEST days were field trips? Were you ever sick on said field trip day and had to miss out? Well that is exactly how I felt.  With my super unhealthy obsession with Pinterest, I turned to that to find some images to make me smile. I hope they make you smile too!

I couldn't resist

I can't even begin to describe how obsessed I am with this idea. Best jewelry holder, ever.

If I ever want to feel happy, all I need is a little Tay.

As much as I love summer, I kind of can't wait to wear cozy clothes.

Things that make me happy today:

1. Lunch with my mom

2. Pumpkin coffee, still. (this is going to become a regular)

3. Sleep.

Missoni for Target (Update)

13 Sep

I may or may not have woken up early today and dragged my two roomies to Target. We arrived at promptly 7:30 and waited in line with about 10 people for the door to open. By the time the clock was about to strike 8:00 AM, the line had grown to nearly 50 people. The doors opened and panic ensued. It was very comical and I am very glad I experienced it. Needless to say in less than 10 minutes every single item that had something to do with Missoni was off the shelves..cleared out.

When at work today, I found this article about the situation and was glad that I chose to physically go to the store and not wait to purchase online. The store spoken about in the above article was the actual store I went to. See the lady in the blue sweater at the bottom of the article (or below)? Yeah she was a HOARDER. I am pretty sure she was just going to sell everything on eBay. She wanted it all no matter size, color, anything.

There she is..the hoarder.
I would love to show you what I bought (flats, scarf, dress and cardigan) but as stated in the article the Target website is STILL down.
If anyone is concerned about not getting a piece of the treasured pie fear not, they restock, which I learned during the following embarrassing conversation with the check out dude:
Me – So the shelves are you restock or were we the lucky ones?
Check Out Dude: Well we get 3 truckloads everyday. We don’t know what is going to be on it but we will be getting more product in.
Me – So more Missoni will be on the shelves tomorrow?
Check Out Dude – Correct and more will be arriving through October.
Me – So there was really no reason for us to rush out here, wait in and line and make fools of ourselves?
Check Out Dude – You said it, not me.
Whatever, it was still super entertaining. I had never been to a store before it opened and waited in line for a product. If you haven’t, I highly recommend it, it’s a very funny experience.  I will try to take pictures of my pieces tonight and upload them since is not cooperating.
—- UPDATE —-
So when I got home today I decided to snap pics of the 4 pieces I purchases. Did any of you snag some of the coveted Missoni??
I’m pretty obsessed with everything. Can I wear it all at once, pretty please?!
Also – still can’t get the skirt out of my mind..might have to venture back.
Things that make me happy today:
1. New nail polish
2. Missoni for Target

A Weekend Full of New and Old Friends

9 Sep

I am so excited for this weekend. For starters, it is Rendez-Vous New England! I never actually thought this day would come..but it is here and I can’t wait to finally meet all my lovely blogger friends in person! My old roommate is also having a housewarming party at her new rooftop patio and I can’t wait to see her new space and hang out with some besties. I know, as always, it is going to go by way too fast and next week will be here before I know it.

For this weeks Friday’s Fancies I decided to go with a perfect “party outfit” for fall. One that allows you to feel the warm evening breeze while still looking chic and polished. I would image wearing this outfit to either the house warming party this weekend or the evening spent with the Rendez-Vous attendees.

A perfect fall weekend

1. Dress – Miu Miu $1,675

2. Sandals – Miu Miu $595

3. Purse – Vintage Chanel $2,843

4. Earrings – Kenneth Jay Lane $53

If you have been keeping track of my “things that make me happy today” you might notice a certain device that often pops up, my kindle. I struggled with the thought of purchasing one for so long and couldn’t be happier I finally took the plunge. It is super convenient, perfect size and easy to hold. I usually read in bed and I love being able to hold this little guy as opposed to a big, bulky book. I would encourage anyone who enjoys reading to invest in one of these, I even put it in a plastic bag when I go to the beach to avoid the sand!

Ever since I first bought the kindle I have been searching high and low for the perfect cover. To me, that means something cute, preppy, and colorful. The cases online were all super expensive and so not my taste, I didn’t want to settle so I continued to look. About a month ago I was contacted by the sweetest woman, Andrea, who owns her own etsy shop and makes the most adorable bags, purses, cosmetic bags and to my surprise kindle cases! It was like the kindle cover gods sent her to me, her designs were exactly what I was looking for. I couldn’t have designed a more perfect case.

Besides kindle covers, here are some of my favorite pieces off her site:

Talia Evening Bag Clutch – $60

Kate Wedding Bag Flower Clutch – $85

Hobo Tote Bag  – $99

Not only are all of her designs super cute, bright, colorful and fun but they are all super affordable.

For my kindle cover I chose a green and pink pattern with a bright green bow. When it came in the mail I couldn’t believe the quality. It snuggles my kindle perfectly and is cuter than I ever imagined. Most kindle covers I looked at were between $80-$100 but this kindle cover is only $30! You must, must, must check them out! Andrea can also make covers for your Nook, iPad or ereader so no one is left out.

I am obsessed with this pattern!

Look at that bow! How cute! ( I don't remember my nail polish color but I know it was essie)

The bow is attached in the back and loops through the front

There is my kindle getting all snuggly and warm (don't mind the creepy man on the screen saver)

Loves it!

Thanks Andera, I truly love it and it fulfills all my kindle cover needs!

Check out Andrea’s etsy shop featuring custom wedding clutches, handbags and more!

This past weekend my roommates officially changed. Two moved out and two moved in. We spent a majority of the long weekend moving, rearranging and making multiple runs to the store for things we wanted needed. We made sure to sneak in a few fun activities as well. Two friends came to the city to visit and showing them a great time was a must. We went to the Red Sox game, ventured to a different bar each night and made sure to laugh, a lot.

I love weekends that are jam-packed and full of many different activities, I always think it makes the weekend seem so much longer. Thinking back to this weekend I feel like it was two weeks long when in reality it was only four days. The best part of a Monday holiday? We now have a four day work week. Bonus.

I could spend all day and all of my money in Ikea. It’s a problem. Roomie and I noticed someting funny about the toilet brush sign. Special prize to anyone who notices first!

Red Sox game. It was super hazy, humid and hot but the ice cold beeyahs sure helped to cool us down! Oh yeah..a bird pooped on me. Check that one off the bucket list. Some people say it’s good luck but I think they just say that so human toilets don’t feel as bad.

I have been dying to go to Lolita, a super awesome upscale Mexican (I think?) restaurant. The atmosphere is very dark and romantic, with candles and roses everywhere. It almost has a boudoir feeling. When you first sit down they give you this freezing cold bowl of ice and pour tequilla over it for a very grown up slushy. Then with your bill they give you cotton candy with pop-rocks mixed in. I felt grown up and childish all at the same time. I would highly recommend this place if you are ever in the Boston area.

One last picture I had to share. Our trash from the move-in. Not including trash from the move out. Just a reminder..I only moved across the hall and didn’t have any trash, so all of that comes from two girls. Kinda sick don’t cha think?

Things that make me happy today:

1. Light blue nails

2. Four day work week

3. Rendez-Vous New England!

Labor Day

2 Sep

I’m off from work today which makes it a four-day weekend. Score. I’m super busy/stressed/hectic and am happy the weekend is (finally) here. This weekend is my first one with the new roomies, coupled with some besties coming to visit. Couldn’t ask for anything better. We are going to hang out, laugh, attend a red sox game, possibly go to the beach (weather permitting) and just enjoy life. I won’t be posting on Monday as I want to take this whole weekend to just de-stress but don’t worry I will be back next week in full force!! Have a great labor day weekend!

Linking with up {av} to share my perfect lazy/fun-filled/baseball game outfit. It needs to withstand spilled beeyahs, ketchup and peanut shells. It’s supposed to be about 75 which is a perfect temp for a day game.
