I wish I could…

31 Oct

Last week we were dished out our quarterly bonuses at work. It is a new thing and rather unexpected. When I found out it was happening I immediately began to daydream about what I was going to treat myself to. After all, that is the point of a bonus..am I right? Well after much thinking I decided to (shockingly) make a mature decision and put all of it towards my credit card bill. Boring. Stupid. Annoying. I still can’t believe I did it. This only makes me more anxious for next quarter when I can hopefully treat myself to one of the following lovelies:

Burberry Brit Quilted Jacket – $495

David Yurman Moonlight Ice Ring – $950

Tory Burch Selma Riding Boot – $495

I also just wanted to apologize for the lack of material in my posts. The past few weeks have been crazy in my work in personal life. I barely have a second to shower so it’s been a bit difficult. Hopefully one week from today everything will have slowed down and I will be able to devote more time this little blog of mine.

Thanks for always being there.

Kick My Booty In Gear

25 Oct

Lately I have been feeling like I need some extra motivation to get my booty to the gym and try and eat healthy. This past weekend was spent with the besties drinking some cocktails at the football game and eating some not-so-figure-friendly food. Good thing god created man and man created Pinterest because let me tell you, it has some fantastic inspiration.

I even bought a new pair of cute sneakers yesterday in order to motivate myself even more. Hey, a girl has to look cute right?

The shoes. Fun fact: every pair of sneakers I have ever owned has been some combination of pink/grey/white. I know what I like.

Think Pink

21 Oct

This weeks Friday’s Fancies is all about my favorite color, pink! I had to use self-control to not choose each item in some sort of pink hue. October is Breast Cancer awareness month and everything seems to take on the theme of pink, even the NFL. Oh hey, future husband Tom.

I think this may be my most favorite FF yet..I am so tempted to buy this whole outfit minus the fact it is FAR away from every fitting in my budget but hey, isn’t that point?

Dress – Alice + Olivia Petunia Bell Sleeve Dress: $330

Shoes – Giuseppe Zanotti Peep Toe Strap Pumps: $595

Necklace – Roarke new york Le Charlot Beaded Necklace: $725

Catbird NYC

20 Oct

While reading my daily blogs today, I came across something fabulous, Catbird NYC. I was referred to the site from the ever stylish Ashley and knew immeditaly I was in for some trouble. Since first laying eyes on the site, my Christmas list (yes you read that correctly) has already doubled.

The main reason I was initally attracted was becasue of their alphabet rings. I was been on the lookout for y-e-a-r-s for a simple, thin, gold ring. I always imagined it would be plain with nothing on it but when I saw these my mind was instantly changed. The letter ‘e’ ring and the ‘heart’ ring have shot to the top of my wish list. I would pair them together on the same finger.

Seriously? Perfection.

If any of you lovely readers whom I love so much have a werid/strange/odd feeling that you want to buy me one…email me and I’ll gladly send you my address 🙂

Here are a few other items I am lusting over from Catbird NYC

Engage me

18 Oct

I am currently sitting in Nana’s Chair watching Gossip Girl and deciding what to write for my Tuesday post. (Nana’s Chair is by far my favorite piece of furniture. It is an old, ugly, rickety recliner which never actually belonged to a Nana but it looks like something a sweet old woman would have) I digress. Anyway I was Facebook creeping while waiting for my writers block to end when I saw some very exciting news on Facebook. One of my brother’s best friends is engaged..as of 19 minutes ago via The Book! I couldn’t be happier for both of them. They are adorable, super happy, and perfect for each other. It’s funny because just the other day I asked my brother which of his friends he thought would be the first to get engaged and he called it.

Engagements are by far one of my favorite things. The love stories make my heart melt and I constantly day-dream about the perfect speech I imagine my one-day-fiance will say to me as he pops the question. To hold me over until the (very faraway) day, I found some of my most favorite engagement photos.

We all know I love all things preppy so this VV proposal just about stole my heart. Read the story here.

Okay you must read this story. So cute. There is even a video at the bottom of it all going down.

And finally if your heart isn’t already melting, watch the video below. Sorry future husband but the internet has given you a lot to live up to…

Do any of you have adorable, cute, romantic, silly or any kind of proposal stories? I would love to hear them!

Fire drills and half marathons

17 Oct

This past weekend was jam-packed full of activities. Friday night I went to the movies with a bestie and saw Footloose. In the middle of the movie the fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate. I had a minor panic attack in the HUGE theater and may or may not have jumped into the Lux Level and ran out through their emergency exit. Sorry I’m not sorry I wanted to survive. Anywho…the hot firefighters came and called it all clear and we were able to go back in to finish movie AND they gave us a free ticket to come back another day! Bonus.

There come the heros!

On Saturday morning bestie and I woke up early and headed to Newport, RI. One of our other besties lives there and she was nice enough to let 5 of us stay at her house. Three of our friends ran the half marathon on Sunday morning in Newport. It was so beautiful and the perfect day for a run. One besite and I watched all the rest cross the finish line and it made me wish I had participated. Maybe next year!

Newport, RI. So pretty.

Me and bestie by the water..so windy

All of us after the race. Congrats girls..13.2 is incredible!

Spend or Save: Riding Boots

13 Oct

With Autumn here it is time to break out the boots; suede, ankle and my favorite, riding boots. While trends might vary from season to season, boots will always be in style. In my opinion they are a staple in one’s wardrobe and I can justify spending more than I normally would on one item. However, that doesn’t mean I am able to drop a few hundo’s on a boot. Especially when I live in New England and the road salt has a tendency to r-u-i-n boots. In my world, boots can not only be a staple but also need to be replaceable.

I fell in love with these Tory’s instantly..I mean duh, how could you not? But at almost five hundred smackers, they are far away from fitting into my boot budget. Imagine my surprise when I saw these beautiful Anne Klein boots while strolling through Lord and Taylor. I couldn’t try them on fast enough.

Things that make me happy today:

1. Drinks with friends after work

2. Motivational speakers

3. Today is the 13th, my favorite number

The Best of Me – Nicholas Sparks

11 Oct

I don’t know how many of you have been long awaiting this day like me but it is finally here. Nicholas Sparks new novel, The Best of Me, comes out today! I had already preordered it so when I get home from work it should be waiting on my Kindle. How many of you are planning on reading it?

From Amazon:

“Everyone wanted to believe that endless love was possible. She’d believed in it once, too, back when she was eighteen.”

In the spring of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

Now, twenty-five years later, Amanda and Dawson are summoned back to Oriental for the funeral of Tuck Hostetler, the mentor who once gave shelter to their high school romance. Neither has lived the life they imagined . . . and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever changed their lives. As Amanda and Dawson carry out the instructions Tuck left behind for them, they realize that everything they thought they knew — about Tuck, about themselves, and about the dreams they held dear — was not as it seemed. Forced to confront painful memories, the two former lovers will discover undeniable truths about the choices they have made. And in the course of a single, searing weekend, they will ask of the living, and the dead: Can love truly rewrite the past?”

Ah, I can’t wait! Check out more of my love for Nicky here!

Falling for Autumn: Day 5

7 Oct

It’s that time again..Friday’s Fancies! This week’s theme just happens to be one of my most favorite pieces for fall..blazers! They are perfect for transitioning into cooler weather. You can wear them over summer dresses to prolong their wear-ability into fall, pair them with jeans and a tank or even go for a classic suit. Personally I prefer the boyfriend style but with all the different styles you are sure to find something to fit your style.
