Twinkling lights

29 Nov

When buying Christmas decorations last week to put my apartment in the holiday spirit, I purposefully accidentally purchased an extra box of 350 little white lights. I want to hang them in my room but haven’t quite decided the best way. They are too short to go all the way around the room so I’m having a hard time trying to make them not look awkward. If I could accomplish any of the following I would be a happy little elf.

Mini Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

28 Nov

I have been dying to make these for awhile now. My uncle called and asked me to contribute the bread to thanksgiving dinner so I grabbed four cans of cresant rolls, checked that off  my list, and grabbed the ingredients to make these delicious treats. (I was never great at following directions. Whoopie pies are kind of like bread, right?).I used this recipe here. I made sure to test the batter, filling and finished product and they were delicious. Highly recommended and super easy to make!

Black Friday

25 Nov

I have yet to cross shopping-on-black-Friday off my bucket list. We always spend Thanksgiving day, night and the day after with my whole family. Yes, one big sleep over. I look forward to it every year and as much as I love shopping, I would rather spend the day with my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. However, if I were to hit the stores, I know one thing for sure..I would have to be comfortable. This to me means jeggins, chunky sweaters and simple jewelry. Since this is Friday’s Fancies I had to throw in my dream Chanel bag. (I actually would give up a Thanksgiving celebration with the family for that Chanel bag!)

If there is one thing I will never cut from my budget (let’s be serious I don’t really follow one but I pretend) it would be manicures. There is just something about going to the salon, picking out a color and being pampered for just a little while. Most salons near me charge $35 dollars for a mani/pedi and only $10 for a manicure, how can I not? Painting my nails myself is like trying to recreate an amazing meal you had a restaurant…impossible.

When I do {rarely} paint my nails myself, I usually have to re-do them every few days to keep them looking fresh. When I go to the salon, they can easily last over a week. I swear the salons put something special in their polish to make them look shiny for so long, I can’t recreate the lasting shine myself and trust me I. Have. Tried.

If any of you have the secret to keeping them looking fresh and clean, I’m dying to know!

That’s the kind of shine I would love to be able to achieve.

Santa’s Little Helper

21 Nov

Christmas is my favorite season of the year and since the entire advertising world has already been celebrating, I decided to jump on the band wagon. Plus this week is short for me, only two days of work then I’m going home for the holiday, so when I get back from Thanksgiving the apartment will be ready to go.

A quick trip to Tar-jay, Michael’s and Ulta (oops that has nothing to do with Christmas, just buying myself some unnecessary things) made my apartment ready for Santa!

Fake trees in Tar-gay. I would never allow this but they still look pweeettty!

During recruitment in my sorority we all would wrap our doors with fun wrapping paper, our names and pictures of ourselves and keep it up all year…well I guess some times never change..I decided to wrap the apartment door.

More craft projects, I bought plain stockings and puff paint. Instant monogrammed stockings! (I love puff paint)

The finished stockings for me and the roomies!
