Spend or Save: Clutch Love

24 Apr

I actually saw and fell in love with the cheaper version of this clutch first.

Hand made with love by Kslademade, the accessory company is one of my most favorite brands to watch grow.

It has quickly become my favorite clutch and even though it is royal blue and pink I rarely find it does not match my outfit.

So, what would you do? Spend or save

Spend or Save: Sailboat Blouse

5 Mar

About a year ago I came across a Milly blouse on Piperlime that I just had to have but at a price tag of $298 it seemed impossible. Each coupon I received via email from Piperlime I debated buying the shirt. It was perfect. I could imagine myself wearing it everyday so at 20% off, the price tag of $238 was totally worth it, right?

I watched the shirt move from new arrivals, to just an average shirt, then to sale. SALE. Could I afford it now? No, it was still close to $200. I don’t know if I have ever lusted over a shirt like I did this one. I thought about it daily and always wondered how I would move some money around to afford it. Rent isn’t that important.

Then the shirt disappeared from Piperlime. A few months later it showed up on a flash sale site (I can’t remember which one) and it was $99! I was about to put it in my cart when I realized it was now October and I would have to wait a few months to wear this summary shirt.

I took all these incidents mentioned above as signs that me and said shirt were not meant to be. I cried a little and moved on.

Then the unthinkable happened. About two weeks ago I walked in Old Navy because I had heard they had some great new pieces. I was wandering around when all of a sudden I looked up and right in front of my was this shirt:

I almost dropped dead.

It’s a little different but at less than $30 it doesn’t matter.

You can bet this baby came come with me.

I guess the saying “Good things come to those who wait” is true.

Spend or Save: Monogrammed Necklace

6 Dec

This necklace has been on my wish list for a long time. I keep waiting for a bonus or unexpected lump sum of money to treat myself. Well, the bonus came..and went to my credit card The lump sum of money? Well unless my last name is secretly Archibald or Waldorf, I don’t think it’s happening. Good thing obsessions like Etsy exist.

Spend or Save: Riding Boots

13 Oct

With Autumn here it is time to break out the boots; suede, ankle and my favorite, riding boots. While trends might vary from season to season, boots will always be in style. In my opinion they are a staple in one’s wardrobe and I can justify spending more than I normally would on one item. However, that doesn’t mean I am able to drop a few hundo’s on a boot. Especially when I live in New England and the road salt has a tendency to r-u-i-n boots. In my world, boots can not only be a staple but also need to be replaceable.

I fell in love with these Tory’s instantly..I mean duh, how could you not? But at almost five hundred smackers, they are far away from fitting into my boot budget. Imagine my surprise when I saw these beautiful Anne Klein boots while strolling through Lord and Taylor. I couldn’t try them on fast enough.

Spend or Save – Rediculous Things I Want

23 Aug

Since the first Spend or Save post had such positive reactions, I decided to make it a regular series, so bloggie friends, spend or save is back. This time I decided to focus on two items, a pair of Miu Miu shoes I can’t stop daydreaming about and a classic nautical style Burberry shirt, both far away from anything I can afford. While I still love the more expensive options the ‘save’ are pretty lust-worthy.

Spend or Save – Lighting

Most of my time spent online consists of browsing the latest fashions and home decor. Most of the pieces I lust over are far beyond anything I could afford. I keep these pieces in mind as I browse more affordable outlets and can barely contain my excitement when I find similar pieces. With this new series I will introduce you to some of my amazing finds. Enjoy!

You may remember in a recent post (found here) that I mentioned what I like to call “glass bubble lamps”. They have been on my radar for a while now. They can be incorporated in any room and compliment most any style. I find them romantic and girlie and they make my heart flutter a few beats faster. Well good news for me and you..I found them at an incredibly reasonable price. So my friends..would you spend or save?
