1 Piece 3 Ways

16 Feb

Back again this Thursday for my favorite new series, 1 piece 3 ways. Not familiar with this series? Check out all the info here.

Today’s piece, is actually two; Madewell’s Barnwood Boots. I have been lusting after these for a while but couldn’t justify buying them. I kept wondering if they were really practical or more on the trendy side. Working 40 hours a week, I have to be careful with purchasing ‘trendy’ pieces as most of them are not appropriate for the corporate setting. However, styled correctly, any piece can be made office appropriate you just have to be creative.

Following my own rule and mentally styling each new addition to my wardrobe in 3 distinct settings (work, casual and date night) I decided to tackle these boots to see if they could fit into my life. Well my friends, they do.

This Friday is an extra special one in the Friday’s Fancy world as it has officially been one year since {av} began this amazing series. Today’s post would not be complete without a big CONGRATULATIONS to my bloggie friend, the Friday’s Fancy world she has created is truly an inspiration.

The theme for this week was ‘inspire’. Our mission; to choose an outfit we have seen someplace in the blog world and recreate it. I’m not sure why I haven’t done this before as I am constantly inspired by other blogs and of course, by Pinterest. I’m pretty sure the outfit below was one of the fastest pins I have ever done. I instantly fell in love with the classic silhouette, the color palate and how effortless it looks. I would love to recreate this look in real life as a perfect spring ensemble. While the pieces I chose are slightly different, the feeling is the same.

Fashion Trend: Stripes

31 May

This summer stripes are popping up everywhere and I love it. It is no secret that I love everything preppy and nautical (seen here) and stripes are a major player in that trend. From rugby to pin, I love all stripes. They are versatile and can be paired with almost anything: patterns, floral, solids, it is hard to find something stripes won’t compliment. Recently, when shopping, I look around my dressing room and see stripes everywhere. It is a trend I am currently loving and can see myself loving for the long haul. Check out some of my favorite finds below:
