I Know It’s Crazy But..

24 Aug

I spent $29 dollars plus tax on a chapstick..and I think it was totally worth it. Call me crazy but I am obsessed with lipgloss and chapstick. At any point in time I could easily grab you at one if not two tubes within arms reach. I have them in my nightstand, multiples in every purse, my car, my desk, random coat pockets and everywhere else you could imagine. Usually my stick of choice is Lypsyl and it still is one of my favorites however I have had a terrible time finding it stores over the past few months which left me at a loss of what to do. The other day I was browsing around Sephora (never a good idea) and stumbled across this “lip glow” by Dior. Being a fan of Dior makeup and feeling like I needed to buy myself a dumb special purchase, I bought it. W-O-W. It makes my lips feel amazing, juicy, smooth, soft, shiny and pretty all in one. It’s definitely more of a chapstick than a gloss but I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The tube itself is beautiful, pink, shiny, and bright and every time I use it, it makes me happy. I haven’t decided if this is a bad discovery or good..I mean with the amount of chapstick I use a day, I can’t really afford to always be grabbing for this tube. I do suggest that everyone run out and grab this product though, even if it’s just to use for special occasions. Like meeting the queen..you can’t pull out a tube of regular chapstick, you need a pretty one and this is just the ticket!

Have you ever spent a ridiculous amount of money on something that you know isn’t worth it? I would love to hear so I don’t feel so silly!

Outdoor Spaces

22 Jun

This weekend my friends are coming. I couldn’t be more excited. One of my besties is going through a though time right now and she is coming all the way from NY to spend the weekend. A few of my other friends that live in the area are going to be coming into Boston to help make her smile. We plan on laughing a lot, spending friday night in the city and saturday/night at my roommates house on the Cape. When thinking about plans for Friday I couldn’t help but wish I had an awesome outdoor space to entertain all my friends. Living in an apartment in the City, unless you have a roof deck, outdoor space is pretty nonexistent. When I grow up (never will) I will make sure to have a prime space for parties outside. For now, I just have to dream..

I feel relaxed just looking at this picture. Maybe not the best for entertaining but still w-o-w.

This space would be perfect for tea parties. Being in a sorority, all my friends and I love any excuse to dress up!

I could sit on this deck all day and read those magazine with some ice tea and good friends. (Confession: I actually hate iced tea. Except Starbucks iced passion tea, to-die-for)

I hope Future Husband (cough, Zac Efron) knows how to bbq. This looks like the perfect back yard for the grown up version of me.

Snow Angels

9 Feb

You would think with the obscene amounts of snow blanketing the North East right now, I would be sick of snow. When it comes to snow shrinking the already skinny streets of the city and making them impossible to drive on and thus forcing me to add thirty minutes to my commute to ride public transportation, I am eager to book the next one-way flight to California and never look back. However, when it comes to my friends ski house and seeing all my besties from college, I’m super enthusiastic. (It’s anecdote time.) Ever since I turned thirteen, I have lied about my age. Always looking for ways to avoid maturity and growing up. I pledged my sorority when I was sophomore and half my pledge class was freshmen. Those are the people who became my best friends. This ended up making graduating, which is already traumatizing for someone who doesn’t believe is growing up, even harder. I was leaving behind most of best friends and venturing out into the scary “real world” all alone. I have now come to terms with the fact that they still get to live a care free lifestyle while I work 40 long hours a week. (Okay, anecdote over) This weekend I get to escape my reality. I will be building snow men, skiing, drinking hot chocolate by the fire (spiked with baileys), and making snow angels.

While beginning to pack for my fun filled weekend ahead, I made sure not to forget a few of my cold weather essentials. Growing up in New England you learn how to survive in the cold. Check out my mini cold weather survival guide below…

Redkin Outshine. Obsessed. I have used this for years to eliminate static in my hair during winter months. Static is not what it this product is marketed for but my hairdresser let me in on this secret. Put a small dot in your palm and rub through your hair. Poof. Static gone.

This isn’t just a necessity for winter, LypSyl is one of my necessities for life. At any given time I have about ten of them. In every bag, every coat, my desk, my car, etc. I’m addicted.

After going through an average of three rain boots each winter, I finally sprung for Hunter Boots. They are 100% worth the price. Bonus: you can get fleece inserts for the colder months!

With that sun glaring off the snow you are guaranteed to need sunglasses. You can never go wrong with classic Ray-Bans.

Things that make me happy today:

  1. Friends inviting me to their ski house
  2. Homemade Valentine’s Day baked goodies (I will be making some to bring this weekend)
  3. The iphone 4 on Verizon, should I upgrade to it?
