It’s all in the details

2 Apr

I’ve recently been loving all things Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The designer is killing it with the details this season.

I can picture each and every piece in my wardrobe and have been convincing myself of any and all reasons why I should purchase each item.

One of my favorite details to ever grace a piece of fabric is eyelet. While this eyelet is larger and different than what I’ve seen, I’m loving it all the same.

Peplum is everywhere this season. Couple that with a back zipper (another favorite detail) and I’m one happy girl.

I’ve always been a lover of color blocking and this dress does it perfectly. The back zipper in matching green brings the whole dress together. I could easily see this dress becoming a summer staple.

Pink and Red

10 Feb

This weekend is going to be full of love. Love for my family that is. My cousins, aunts, uncles, parents and brother are coming to visit for the weekend. Saturday we have a full day planned of going to the Bruins game followed by a delicious dinner in the North End. Bring on the pasta. I’m very excited to see them all and experience the city like a tourist (something I rarely do).

Tonight can’t come soon enough.

If I were to pick a favorite color it would hands down be pink so imagine my excitement when {av} announced that this week’s Friday Fancy was themed around pink and red.

Little Shorty

16 Jun

Since my apartment is small, I still keep out-of-season clothing at home (home=where I grew up and until further notice it will always be “home”). The weather has been a little unpredictable with some really hot days this spring, making some days perfect shorts weather but alas, mine were at home. When I went to my lake house for Memorial Day weekend, I made sure to stop and pick up all my shorts in my closet at home. I quickly threw them in a bag and left. When I returned to my apartment I unpacked the shorts and decided to try them on and make sure they still fit I still liked them all. Well the good news is I only disliked one pair, the bad news, most pairs are not appropriate for my grown up life (this is my first summer in the real world). My current collection of shorts is casual and consists of madras, jean cut offs, and bright J Crew Chinos. All perfect for day time events but not suitable for evening activities in the city. This weekend my mission is to find some girls-night-out appropriate pairs.

Fashion Trend: Stripes

31 May

This summer stripes are popping up everywhere and I love it. It is no secret that I love everything preppy and nautical (seen here) and stripes are a major player in that trend. From rugby to pin, I love all stripes. They are versatile and can be paired with almost anything: patterns, floral, solids, it is hard to find something stripes won’t compliment. Recently, when shopping, I look around my dressing room and see stripes everywhere. It is a trend I am currently loving and can see myself loving for the long haul. Check out some of my favorite finds below:

Happy Easter

22 Apr

I’m heading home to my parents house for the weekend to celebrate Easter.  I’m planning an Easter egg hunt for all my cousins like we used to do when we were little. Instead of using platic eggs (which are basically unbreakable by little hands and perfect for competitive hunts) I am going to use real eggs that I will color myself. Feeling in the mood to insprire myself for this project, I decided to search for the perfect Easter outfit. Check out some of my picks below (all in appropriate Easter colors of course).
