Winnie The Pooh

17 Jul

We all know Winnie the Pooh.

I grew up watching Winnie the Pooh cartoons, movies, etc and always loved the characters. However, I never read the original book by A.A. Milne. Lately I have been sentimental (reason coming soon) and have found many quotes that speak to me. All these quotes turned out to have one common denominator, they were written by A.A. Milne in the original Winnie the Pooh book.

Below are a few of my select favorites.

All images made by me.

Wedding Belles

13 Jul

Weddings are one of my favorite things in the whole world. There is nothing better than a happy couple in love sharing their love with everyone they love in their lives. I guess you can say that I love love.

I’ve only been a guest at one wedding (I know, crazy but I’m young and the weddings of friends haven’t started yet) but I have worked and helped plan weddings for years.

While my favorite theme/wedding trend often changes, right now I am craving all things rustic

If I were to attend my ideal wedding (rustic and southern) I would wear something romantic, girlie with something rugged mixed in, making me the perfect wedding belle. Linking up with {av} today to share my outfit.

Early Mornings and Paleo

12 Jul

I’ve been so busy lately.

I always find my self on the go in the summer with endless weekend, nightly and work plans. While I love when my calendar is full, it leaves little time for blogging which isn’t ideal. Today I woke up 45 minutes early to get in a little blog time before heading off to work.

Sitting here watching the Today Show, drinking my coffee and eating scrambled eggs is pretty blissful.

This might have to become a daily occurrence.

Now, onto the point of today’s post, The Paleo diet.

I have struggled with stomach issues for most of life, seen countless doctors and tried several different eating regimes. I have found the most effective in keeping me happy and healthy is eliminating gluten from my diet and have since been diagnosed as “gluten intolerant”. Before this happened the doctor’s thought I was intolerant of any food high in fat, such as dairy. Even though the elimination of gluten makes me feel better, I still have yet to feel 100%.

I recently heard about the Paleo diet (read more here and here) which essentially is the “caveman” diet. If the cavemen couldn’t find it, harvest it, or eat it then neither do you while on this lifestyle. That means no sugar, processed food, grains or dairy. I have only been doing this for a few days now but I already feel so much better. It’s also allowed me to stray from my normal “go-to” meals and try all new recipes and combinations.

The biggest difference is my breakfast. I have always had a typical breakfast such as yogurt, cereal, toast etc. but on the Paleo diet, I have been eating eggs. If you ask any of my friends/family about my relationship with eggs they would tell you it is 100% nonexistent. I have never liked eggs, never eaten eggs and been adverse to them for 24 whole years of life. Now, I have been eating a scramble with eggs, broccoli, salsa and hot sauce and it is good!

I can’t wait to find even more new-to-me foods though this new lifestyle.

Have any of you tried it? Heard of it?

Minted.

5 Jul

I am about to revamp my bedroom and have been in the market for prints. I have yet to purchase any as I am not 100% sure on the color scheme I want to go with. While Etsy has been my go-to source for researching and bookmarking favorites, yesterday I learned about a brand new-to-me site via Camille.

Enter Minted.

This site has a strong focus on nursery and children’s rooms but from what I have seen they have plenty of adorable prints that could work for me. The best part is every print comes in a variety of sizes to fit perfectly into any decor. Below are just a few of my favorites. Check out even more here.

Two Penny Blue

2 Jul

I have no days off this week except the 4th of July. Boo. I already knew this week was going to be sucky since I am one of the few people who I know that is actually working all week.

Lucky for me, the July issue of Matchbook Magazine came out and my day was instantly brighter. Yes,  I took an hour of my work day to read the magazine but no one is at work this week so I deemed it okay.

While reading the new issue I came across my new favorite lust worthy company, Two Penny Blue. Partners Marie Whitney and Erin Gates have spent over two years to bring us an awesome new company.

“Two Penny Blue is a collection of luxury jackets and blazers that combines thoughtful classic design with fine fabrics, bespoke detailing and an impeccably tailored fit. Known for its signature silhouettes and effortless sophistication, the Two Penny Blue collection presents a modern twist on classic tailored pieces.

For every jacket purchased, a school uniform is donated to a girl in need in Africa – opening the door to her education, increasing her self-esteem and providing the opportunity for a brighter future. Two Penny Blue was founded in 2010 by designer, Marie Whitney. She created the collection with the dream of using fashion as a way to educate, empower and inspire young women and children around the world.

The Two Penny Blue line is proudly made in the United States with extraordinary quality and care. The collection is produced in small quantities and every jacket is released and as a one-of-a-kind, Limited Edition piece. Trends may come and go- but quality, classic lines and attention to detail always endure.” (via)

Below are some of my favorite items:

I plan to make some type of delicious treat for the girls to indulge in and what better place to pursue for ideas than Pinterest! Below are a few of my favorites, which should I make?

21 Jun

Yesterday during my lunch break I had the super fun task of going to home depot to buy some mouse traps for my apartment. Gross. In order to reward myself for being productive I scooted next door to Old Navy to browse around where I found this dress.

I knew right away I was obsessed and toyed with the idea of buying the other two colors but refrained. Well today I was wearing the black dress and I know exactly what I am doing during my lunch break…Old Navy here I come. The dress is light weight and sleeveless which makes it perfect for this extreme 100 degree heat wave we are having in Boston.

It’s rare I love an article of clothing this much so in my mind it’s a necessity that I purchase the other two colors. Don’t you agree?
